Bulathkohupitiya–Dedugala Asphalt Works
Senarath Engineering (Pvt) Ltd successfully executed the “Supplying, Laying, and Compaction of Asphalt Wearing Course for Bulathkohupitiya–Dedugala Road” between chainages 10+707 km and 11+694 km. Commissioned by the Road Development Authority under Contract No. SAB/RDA/PD/TEN/CON/2024/12, the project commenced on 07 October 2024 and reached completion on 07 January 2025—delivered precisely within its three‑month schedule.

Scope of Work
- Length Upgraded: 0.987 km
- Activities Performed:
- Milling and surface preparation of existing pavement
- Supply of hot‑mix asphalt (ACW – 50 mm wearing course)
- Paver laying followed by tandem steel‑wheel and pneumatic‑tyre compaction
- Edge sealing and thermoplastic centre‑line marking
- Quality Control: Continuous density testing (≥ 97 % Marshall) and surface evenness checks (< 5 mm straight‑edge variance).
Project Highlights
- Rapid Delivery: Night‑shift paving minimized daytime traffic disruption on this key access road to central highland villages.
- Safety Boost: Enhanced skid resistance and clear lane markings have already reduced minor accident reports, according to RDA field data.
- Durability: Polymer‑modified bitumen used to withstand steep gradients and frequent rainfall typical of the Bulathkohupitiya region.

Benefits
- User Comfort: Smoother ride and reduced travel time for daily commuters and school transport.
- Economic Impact: Improved route reliability supports tea and spice producers who rely on timely haulage to markets.
- Maintenance Savings: New wearing course extends pavement life by an estimated eight years before next resurfacing is required.
The successful, on‑time completion of this high‑priority resurfacing project underscores Senarath Engineering’s agility and commitment to quality in delivering rapid pavement solutions for Sri Lanka’s road network.
